Syncing an EndNote library with EndNote Online allows users to access and update their EndNote library when working from a device without EndNote Desktop installed. EndNote Online also allows for sharing groups and libraries.
Connecting EndNote Online with EndNote Desktop
- Create a free EndNote Online account at https://www.myendnoteweb.com
- Open EndNote Desktop
- Click on Edit > Preferences in the menu bar
- In the preferences window, select Sync
- Click on Enable Sync
- Enter in your EndNote Online credentials
- Click OK
Setting Up Sync Preferences
Following these steps will setup your EndNote Desktop app to sync with EndNote Online every time it opens (recommended).
- Open the Edit > Preferences menu
- Select Sync
- Enter your EndNote account credentials
- If you would like EndNote Desktop to sync with EndNote Online every time it opens, tick the "Sync Automatically" box
- Click Apply
- Click Ok
