SIU-SOM Medical Library has negotiated 3 publisher agreements designed to benefit researchers, students, and faculty.
BMJ Case Reports Institutional Fellowship
Through the SIU SOM Medical Library, all SIU affiliates have access to BMJ Case Reports and may register an account to publish case reports to the journal. Our institutional fellowship waives the individual author fee typically charged by the BMJ. To submit a case report, follow the instructions detailed in the BMJ Case Reports User Guide. The fellowship ID Code SIU authors must use to submit an article is SF0158351
Oxford University Press Read & Publish Agreement
Southern Illinois University is now a participating institution in the Read & Publish agreement through Oxford University Press and Lyrasis effective 2025-2027. The Read and Publish agreement means you can read trusted, high-quality, peer-reviewed research from OUP’s prestigious collection of 350+ journals and publish open access (OA) articles with fees covered by the Medical Library.
The Company of Biologists Read & Publish Agreement
SIU-SOM Medical Library and SIUC Morris Library have a Read & Publish Agreement with The Company of Biologists through December 31, 2028.
When submitting a manuscript, you must select SIU Carbondale as your affiliate institution, but you will still use your SIU-SOM email for submission. The following journals are eligible for author fee waivers:
- Development
- Journal of Cell Science
- Journal of Experimental Biology
- Disease, Models, and Mechanisms
- Biology Open
